Robert Eugene Prehoda, Sr.

Robert "Bob" Eugene Prehoda, Sr., 79, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at his residence. Bob was born on June 5, 1939 in Springfield, the son of Thomas and Mary Lutes Prehoda. He married Sharon K. Herter on October 1, 1960 in Springfield. Bob attended Feitshans High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Robert was employed for 40 years at Schnepp & Barnes Printing until retirement. In retirement, he worked for Bank of Springfield as a courier for 14 years. Bob was a member of the Anchor Boat Club and the Elks Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, traveling, movies, and spending time with his family and his cats. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George Prehoda; and one sister, Shirley Hissong. He is survived by his wife, Sharon K. Prehoda of Springfield; two sons, Robert (wife, Deborah) Prehoda, Jr. of Sarasota, FL and Michael (wife, Pat) Prehoda of Springfield; three grandchildren; two siblings, Darlene Brazil of New Berlin and Wes Prehoda of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Graveside Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
