

He was born in Springfield on July 25, 1950, the son of Robert Sr. and Lorine “Lolly” (Conroy) Turley.
Bob graduated from Springfield Southeast High School with the class of 1968 and attended DeVry University in Chicago. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines from July of 1970 to October of 1972 as a dog handler in Vietnam, which instilled a love of German Shepherds that was inherited by the family. Bob went on to work for George Alarm Company installing alarms, and later for Ushman Communications installing telephones. He loved his family, his country, Judge Judy, and a cold Miller Lite.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Michelle Turley Hammitt of Springfield; son, Robert “Todd” Turley of St. Louis; daughters, Katie Turley and Hannah Turley, both of Springfield; fiancé, Debbie Sharp; grandchildren, Jordan Turley, Nikki Bokamp, Mackenzie Turley, Rhyan Hammitt, Aubree Gilbert, and Lane Schnapp; sister, Bonnie Baranzelli of Edinburg, whom he found in 2023; brother, David Turley of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Jaron Turley, Carson Lay, Joel Turley, Harper Turley, Odin Bokamp, and Hayzie Turley; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Ceremony: 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Military honors will be provided.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW on Stockyard Road, following the graveside service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, which Bob had the honor to attend while being accompanied by his son in September of 2025.
