
Chatham- Robert Eugene Twyford, 85, of Chatham died June 25, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. He was born February 13, 1926 in Alexander, Illinois to Alonzo and Flossie (Dobbs) Twyford who preceded him in death. He was a 1944 graduate of Ashland High School. Robert was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during WWII where he was a part of the Occupation of Japan. He was a member of the Auburn Baptist Church, Chatham American Legion Post #759, and Sangamon County Farm Bureau. Robert married Anna M. Taylor on September 3, 1955 in Jacksonville, Illinois. He was a farmer for 61 years and farmed the last 51 years in the Chatham area retiring after the fall of 2010. Robert�s occupation of farming was also his passion in life. He enjoyed country music, daily visits with the �Hardee�s Gang�, spending time with his grandchildren, and talking. He is survived by his wife, Anna, Daughters, Carolyn Twyford (Condit) ( significant other James Cissell) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kim (Tim) Brooks of Fort Myers, Florida and Debbie (Steve) Copp of Glenarm; Grandchildren, Megan Condit, Amanda, Josh, and Jake Brooks, Taylor and Kendal Copp. Sister Grace Oxley of Jacksonville, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: His family will greet friends from 4-7pm, Tuesday, June 28 at Staab Polk Memorial Home 8855 State Route 4 Chatham, Illinois Funeral: 11am, Wednesday, June 29, with Reverend Gerald Phillips, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham.
