Robert D. Uteg

He was born in Elgin, Nov. 7, 1930, the middle son of Henry L. and Charlotte Reimer Uteg. He was a graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School in 1944 and from Dundee Community High School in 1948. Four years later he graduated from Valparaiso University with a business major. He was drafted in the Korean War shortly after receiving his Valpo Degree and served two years at Fort Knox, KY. He then attended the University of Illinois at Champaign where he received his Masters Degree with a Management/Marketing major.

A position with Union Electric Company in St. Louis was his first graduate employment. After 10 years employment with Union Electric, he resigned to accept a position with A.G. Edwards and Sons Inc., a St. Louis based brokerage firm. A transfer to Springfield in early 1968 as a financial advisor was his place of residence until his retirement from Wells Fargo Advisors in 2013 with over 45 years of service in the securities business.

He married Marilyn F. Chaney on April 29, 1972. Both were active members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where they coordinated the Greeters Program for a 25 year period. A Rotarian since 1971, Bob served on many committees and as a club president in 1978. The Big Brothers program was one of Bob’s favorite serving as a Big Brother for a 10 year period and as a program president in 1979.Since 1970 he enjoyed membership in the Sangamo Club. Serving as Board Secretary was Bob’s way of keeping up with club activities.

He is survived by his cousin Gloria Hutson and twelve nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday June 15, 2013 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Thomas Radtke officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Ridge Memorial Chapel Mausoleum.
