Roberta was born on July 1, 1935, in Chestnut, IL, the daughter of Lee Alfred and Evelyn Troxell Ball. She married Kevin Flynn on July 24, 1971, in Springfield; he preceded her in death.
Roberta graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953 and attended Lincoln College. She was employed with Central Illinois Electric and Gas in Lincoln and after moving to Springfield worked for neurosurgeons, Drs. Floyd Barringer, Lyle Wacaser, and Robert Hayner until 1971 when she and Kevin married. Roberta and Kevin enjoyed traveling and golf until she returned to the work force as an executive secretary for a few years while living in Texas. She returned to Springfield upon her retirement and worked as president of the Medical Assistants Group while working in Springfield and was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority during her Lincoln College years. Roberta loved spending time with her sisters and going to lunch with her friends. She was very particular about her appearance and would sometimes get her hair and nails done twice a week. Out of the four sisters, Roberta was referred to as “the spoiled one.” In her earlier years, she was an active member of Douglas Avenue Methodist Church and after returning to Springfield, became a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lanore Krotz and Rosalie Schrader.
She is survived by her sister, Jo Ellyn Pollard of Huntersville, NC; 8 nieces and 5 nephews.
