Roger Anderson, Sr.

Roger Anderson, Sr., 49, was born on June 26, 1975, in (Brookhaven) Long Island, New York to Fannie M. (Beverly) Anderson and James R. Anderson. In 1985, Roger was later moved to Springfield, IL., where he was situated in the care of his oldest brother. Roger was introduced to Christ at an early age and later became a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist church.

Roger was a hard worker and very versatile. After graduating from Lanphier High School in 1994, Roger explored many jobs such as working for pizza parlors, installing carpet and flooring, and as an auto mechanic. Roger was no stranger to work. Roger had a beautiful smile, a good sense of humor, loved his family, dogs and pet fish dearly.

Roger was the parent of five children, four daughters and one son, Danielle T. Anderson (C. Johnetta Richards), Sydney M. Anderson (Amy Ushman), Arianna Anderson, Roger Anderson Jr., and Ariah Anderson (Vania Anderson). He had five grandchildren, four granddaughters and one grandson whom he loved very much.

On February 5, 2025, Roger departed his life at Memorial Medical Center. He leaves to cherish his four daughters and son, Danielle T. Anderson, Sydney M. Anderson, Arianna Anderson, Ariah Anderson and Roger Anderson, Jr. Roger also leaves to cherish his step-mother, six brothers, eleven half-brothers, three sisters and six half-sisters, Huston Beverly (Joyce), James Anderson (Carmise), Charlie Anderson (Carmita), William Anderson, Terrance Anderson, Warren Anderson (Karen), Dorothy Anderson (James), Sherry Anderson (Lyn) and Julia Jackson. (Stepmother) Minnie Robinson, (Half-brothers) James O. Anderson, J.B. Anderson, William Anderson, James Robinson, Johnnie Robinson, Michael Robinson, Frank Robinson, Frankie Robinson, Tyrone Robinson, Thomas Robinson, and Joseph Robinson, (Half-Sisters) Dessie (Anderson) Carter, OBell Anderson, Earlene Robinson, Lena (Robinson) Martin (Thomas), Shermain Robinson and Latoya Anderson. He also leaves to cherish his partner (Tiffany).

Roger is survived by two Uncles, one Aunt, a host of nephews, nieces and friends, (Uncles) Hozel Anderson and David Anderson (Erma). (Aunt) Nellie (Beverly) Shoemake (James). Roger was preceded in death by three brothers, Percy B. Smith, Jr., Robert L. Beverly, and Frank Anderson, four half-brothers, Henry Robinson, Cord Robinson, Benjamin Robinson and Scottie Robinson, stepmother, Odessia Anderson, and half-nephew, Toumai Gaynor.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, followed by the Ceremony at 1:30 p.m. with Jerry Jones officiating.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, following services.
