Roger Dale Robertson

Roger was born on June 5, 1953, in Springfield, the son of John Wilson and Doris Aletta (Denton) Robertson. He married Bonyen “Yen” Pondchai on November 30, 1976, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Roger was a 1971 graduate of Springfield High School. Roger served in the United States Air Force until 1976. During his service he was stationed in Thailand where he met Yen and she became affectionately known as “My Little One” to him. After serving in the Air Force, he worked as a carpenter for a short while and then went to work as a Jet Engine Mechanic for the Illinois Air National Guard for 34 years, retiring in 2008. Roger was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed all outdoor activities including camping and fishing. He was a member of the TRN Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Victoria Lee Robertson.

He is survived by his wife, Bonyen “Yen” Robertson of Glenarm; two siblings, Mike (wife, Deb) Robertson of Springfield and Brad (wife, Blanche) Robertson of Hickory Creek, TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and stepcousins; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and close cousins, Jeanette Ealey, Mindy Hummer, and Katrina Meshach.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Gebhardt officiating.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.

Private interment will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery and military honors will be conducted.
