

Ron Naughton, 80, of Springfield, died at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Oak Terrace. Ron was born August 28, 1934 in Decatur, the son of Thomas and Mary Eileen Markwell Naughton. He married Shirley Quigley on July 2, 1955 in Decatur. Ron graduated from St. Teresa High School in Decatur and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Milliken University. He owned and operated Manpower Temporary Services in Springfield, Decatur and Jacksonville from 1970 to 2000. He previously had worked for NCR and IBM. He was a member of Unity Church. Ron was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading, having coffee with his buddies, and travelling. He made sure each of his kids, grandsons, and his wife had a good set of clubs! He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tom Naughton. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Naughton of Springfield; two sons, Jerry (Cindy) Naughton of Springfield and Tom (wife, Chareva) Naughton of Franklin, TN; daughter, Nancy Naughton of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Zachary Naughton, Eric Naughton, Grant Naughton, Kenny Naughton, Heather (husband, Aaron) Russell, Sara Naughton, Alana Naughton, and William Naughton; three great-grandchildren, Leah and Holly Russell and Liam Naughton; sisters-in-law, Shirley Irene (husband, Tom, deceased) Naughton, Sharon (Len) Bardfield, and Sue (Don) Bivens; four nieces; and four nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
