

Ronald P. Hampson, 74, of Springfield passed away at 2:09 a.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Ronald was born on May 7, 1938 in Springfield, the son of Murvel J. and Helen A. Mueller Hampson. He married Judith Ann Brower on October 28, 1961 in Springfield. Ronald was a graduate of Lanphier High School in 1956 and served his country in the United States Army. He was very active in the highway construction field and was a partner in Alton and Company, Inc. and T.M.F. Construction. He was a past officer and board member of Associated General Contractors of Illinois and a Contractor Representative for the International Union of Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Committee. He was a member of the 7th Illinois Calvary Reactivated and rode in the Presidential Inauguration Parade in Washington D.C. in 1976. Ronald was a charter member of St. Jude's Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling, golfing, and being with family and friends, especially at holidays and birthdays. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Judy Hampson of Springfield; three sons, Douglas (wife, Dawn) Hampson of Rochester, Bradley (wife, Jeanette) Hampson of Chatham, and Michael (wife, Julie) Hampson of Sycamore; eight grandchildren, Danielle and Darci, Zakery, Jacob, Aaren, and Colton, Megan and Luke; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Sophie; and brother, Thomas (wife, Barbara) Hampson of Springfield. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Sara Isbell officiating.
