

Ron was born on December 18, 1948, in Springfield, the son of Elmer G. and Alma C. Wallner Steffen. He married Patricia Kehoe on January 12, 1980, in Springfield.
Ron was a graduate of Glenwood High School and the University of IL-Champaign. He was an electrical engineer for DICKEY-john for 45 years, retiring in 2015. Ron was a good Christian man, a wonderful husband, and a devoted father. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham, was active in the Sangamon Valley Radio Club, was a member of the Chatham Emergency Management Agency, and the Lutheran Emergency Response Team. Ron enjoyed building things, including woodworking and restoration, and spending time on his Ham radio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Steffen.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Steffen of Springfield; one son, Michael (wife, Catherine) Steffen of Oviedo, FL; one daughter, Deborah (husband, Tony) Fusco of Silver Spring, MD; and five grandchildren, David and Hazel Steffen, and Anna, Talia, and Ellie Fusco.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1225 North Main St., Chatham. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
