Rose Cecelia Blasko

Rose was born on May 29, 1926, in Springfield, the daughter of Carl N. and Mary Elizabeth Poff Britz. She married Emery Blasko on August 28, 1943; he preceded her in death on May 1, 1984. Rose then married John Soltis on August 29, 1986; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1994.

Rose was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and attended Brown’s Business College for one year. For 10 years, she owned and operated Blasko Variety Store on Sangamon Avenue. She then worked for the City of Springfield Comptroller’s Office for 12 years, retiring in 1986. Rose lived her life loving God, family, and friends. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing, and travel.

She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Marie Denise Erio; her parents; and siblings, Marguerite Langfield, Charlotte L. Churchill, Mary Ellen Nonneman, Anne Butler, and Peter Britz.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (husband, Robert) McCleary of Danville, CA, Karen (husband, Bob) Nash of Dallas, GA, Barbara Soltis of Springfield, Elizabeth (husband, Eric) Entwistle of Springfield, Charlene (husband, Larry) Millburg of St. Louis, MO, Lynda (husband, David) Marlett of Springfield, and Cynthia (husband, Paul) Durr of Centennial, CO; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Jenny Kerwin of St. Louis, MO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Concelebrated Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 East Sangamon Avenue, Springfield, with the Very Rev. Christopher House and Rev. George Philip Nellikunnel, S.A.C., celebrants.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
