

Rose Mary Giacomini, 91, of Springfield, died at 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at her son’s home. She was born September 3, 1914 in Springfield, the daughter of Paul and Maria Antonia Mezzapelle Scaduto of Montevago Province Agrigento Sicily, Italy. Rose Mary married Domenic J. Giacomini on November 1932 in Springfield; he preceded her in death in 2001. She also was preceded in death by one son: Paul J. Giacomini, one daughter: Patricia Giacomini, one brother: Frank Scaduto and one sister: Cheterina Mayes. She is survived by one son: Dominic C. (wife, Patricia) Giacomini of Springfield; seven grandchildren: Patrick J. Giacomini (wife, Debbie), Kay (husband, Steve McClimans), Tom Giacomini (wife, Erin), Michelle (husband, Greg Williamson), Lisa (husband, Jim Fay), Angie (husband, Mike Walsh) and Nickolas Giacomini (wife, Danielle) and twenty-four great grandchildren: Hannah, Sarah, Amy, Connor, Sean, Bailey, Kiera, Isabella, Nico, Nadia, Guliana Giacomini; Dominic and Frank McClimans; Nicholas, Eric, Ryan and Benjamin Williamson; Austin, Alexander Reilly and Peyton Fay; Ellen, Andrew, Zachary and Ryan Walsh; four sisters: Virginia (husband, S. Joseph) Madonia, Dominica (husband, David) Vespa, Josephine (husband, Sevet) Madonia and Mary Ann Bart all of Springfield; one brother: Dominic (wife, Agnes) Scaduto of Springfield and many nieces, and nephews. Mrs. Giacomini was employed by the International Shoe Factory, Bressmers Department Store, Myers Brothers Department Store, the Bobby Pin Factory and the Springfield Public School’s cafeteria’s. She attended LLCC and served as a health care worker at the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind and the Americanna Nursing Home. She and her late husband, Domenic founded the Giacomini Parking Properties business.She loved sewing and created her own fashions. She also loved visiting her grandchildren, family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m, on Friday, September 9, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield, with Father Chuck Edwards, principal celebrant and Rev. Robert Jallas, concelebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
