Rose Eleanor Duggan McCarthy

Rose Eleanor Duggan McCarthy, 93, of Boulder, CO, formerly of Springfield, IL, died at 4:25 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Frasier Meadows Retirement Community in Boulder, CO. She was born in Mound City, IL on December 4, 1920. She was the daughter of Michael Bernard Duggan and Blanche Schuler Duggan of Mound City. She married Robert Louis McCarthy in Springfield on May 24, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1991. Mrs. McCarthy worked in the audit department of the Division of Highways and later in her husband's business, Illini Blue Print. She was a charter member of Christ the King Church and Samaritans of St. John's Hospital. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert Louis McCarthy, Jr. She is survived by one son, Michael Sean (wife, Marilyn) McCarthy of Boulder, CO; two grandchildren, Brooke H. McCarthy (husband, Andre Watts) of Omaha, NE and Dr. Fenton H. (wife, Ann) McCarthy of Philadelphia, PA; and two great-grandchildren, Judson Daniel McCarthy and Camille Rose Watts. Rose was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Cremation was accorded prior to ceremonies. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Christ the King Parish, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, with Rev. H. Thomas McDermott celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
