

After attending Springfield Public Schools, he served in the U.S. Army from June 1943 until his honorable discharge in February 1946. Ross attended DePauw University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, from September 1946 until December, 1948. He then began his career at Booth & Thomas, Inc., a family business and local wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating and piping materials, where he retired as president in 1992.
He was a member and elder of First Christian Church in Springfield, where he sang for many years in the sanctuary choir. He married Marilyn Wright on August 15, 1948. Ross had a lifelong interest in trains and railroading and enjoyed traveling with his wife.
He is survived by son Mark Thomas; daughter Linda Keldermans (husband,Karel); sister Vinnimae Yoran (husband, Darwin) and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel Friday Aug. 5, 2011 from 5 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A M Saturday Aug. 6, 2011 at First Christian Church with Rev. Rick Irwin officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.(www.boardman-smith.net).
