She was born on June 26, 1919 in Riggston, IL, the daughter of the late Joseph Raymond and Edith Beatrice (Andrew) Smith. She married Charles A. Black and he preceded her in death on July 21, 2007.
Mrs. Black worked as a line machine operator for Sangamo Electric. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son-in-law Tad Rice of Springfield and her granddaughter Tara (husband Jarrod) Frost of Glen Carbon, IL.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Vicki Rice, a brother Richard Cree Smith, and twin sisters Josephine Irene and Phillipine Lea Smith.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where memorial services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at 10 am.
