

Roy Dean Hart, 78, of Chatham, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at St. Johns Hospital. He was born July 11, 1939 in Freeburg, IL to Raymond Thomas and Bertha Viola Steele Hart. He married Barbara Lee Cary May 28, 1966. His parents, sisters, Anna Howard Phelps and Erna Girten, brother Ray Hart, sister-in-law, Judy Hart, and brother-in-law, Gene Howard, preceded him in death. Roy owned and operated Hart of Illinois (Mobile Home Parks) from 1979-2010. He was a member of the Illinois Manufactured Housing Association and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed playing and repairing guitars; he gave his sons, grandchildren and great grand-daughter the love of music; what a legacy! His motto was You can never have too many guitars! He read his Bible daily and tried to base his life on the Golden Rule. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, Barbara; sons, James (Kim) Hart of Edinburg and Thomas (Danielle) Hart of Pawnee, grandchildren Omi, Kele, Jade, Waylon, and John Michael; great grandchild, Joslyn; and brother, Glenn Hart of Lenzburg, IL, several nieces and nephews. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham, before services. His family will greet friends from 3:30pm until the time of the Celebration of Life at 6:30pm, Thursday, August 24, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL, 62629. Chaplain Marty Nagel will officiate at the services which will include special music and memories.
