

Roy “Roy Boy” Lewis Moore, 79, of Springfield, died at 1:37 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. Roy was born on July 18, 1926 in Springfield, the son of the Lewis Day and Irene Miller Moore. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in both WWII and Korean Wars. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of VFW Post 755 and American Legion Post 32. He was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company from 1947 – 1986 as a linesman and later as a test board operator. Roy Boy enjoyed singing karaoke, playing the harmonica, tap dancing and was still riding a bicycle up until the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are two sons: John (wife, Kathy) Moore of Chatham, Gary Moore of Springfield; two daughters: Amy (husband, Fred) Galetti of Dubuque, IA and Monica Moore of Gahanna, OH; five grandchildren: Geoffrey (wife, Michelle) Bellmer of Smithville, MO, Nicholas Galetti of Iowa City, IA, Westin Moore of Chatham, Kelsey and Bret Conkle of Newark, OH and two great grandchildren: Morgan and Peyton Bellmer both of Smithville, MO. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at Kirin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Private family Graveside Services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Scott Brindley officiating and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will also conduct military honors.
