Ruth L. Myers

Ruth Louise Myers, 97, of Sherman, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Villa Health Care East. Ruth was born November 12, 1920 in Reedsburg, WI, the daughter of Ernst and Elsa Pape. She married George E. Myers on May 17, 1942; he preceded her in death on January 17, 1985. Ruth grew up in Reedsburg, WI and attended Northern Illinois University where she prepared to be an elementary teacher. After her marriage, she moved to Dixon, IL where she lived until moving to Springfield at age 80. She enjoyed shopping, taking bus trips and playing card games and bingo with her friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Pape of Reedsburg; and sister, Miriam Pape of Whitewater. She is survived by her son, Thomas E. (Bonnie) Myers of Springfield; two grandsons, Patrick (Erin) Myers of Springfield and Steven (Melanie) Myers of Glendale Heights, IL; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Alexander Myers of Springfield. Respecting her wishes, cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. There will be no local services. A graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon will be held at a later date. Ruths family would like to thank the entire staff at Villa as well as the caregivers from Avalon Hospice for the compassionate care they both provided.
