Ruth Cline Robertson

Ruth was born February 28, 1928 in Coffeen, the daughter of Dale and Nina Thacker Cline. She married Jack K. Robertson on August 8, 1950; he preceded her in death in December 1992 as did her daughter, Jill Yurdin in October 2005.

Ruth grew up on the family farm and attended school in Vandalia and Mulberry Grove. She earned her B.A. degree at Eastern Illinois University and masters degree at University of Illinois. Ruth was a teacher in Bement, Cerro Gordo, Galesburg, Mt. Vernon and Springfield. Ruth was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Kappa Omicon Nu Honorary Sorority, Springfield Womens Club, University Women, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and National Education Association. She volunteered at Ronald McDonald House and Sangamon State University Auditorium. Her faith, family, and wonderful friends were her greatest joy.

She is survived by her son, Mark Robertson of Springfield; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Herbert) Woosley of Vandalia; brother, Charles (Judy) Cline of Mulberry Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 South Grand Ave. West, Springfield. A memorial ceremony will follow at 1:00 p.m.
