

She was born January 25, 1942 in Springfield the daughter of Lorraine Watts Sedlak and Frank Sedlak. Her parents preceded her in death. Sally has no descendants but is survived by many loyal friends and cousins.
Sally attended Sacred Heart and Butler Grade Schools in Springfield, Monticello Prep School in Godfrey and Springfield High School. She was a graduate of Gulf Park College- University of Southern Mississippi. She held a Bachelors degree in English from MacMurray College, Jacksonville and a Masters degree from University of Illinois-Springfield.
Sally’s career included being a writer for the State Journal Register, a teacher of English at Springfield High School, Training Director for the Illinois Department on Aging and Volunteer Coordinator at Lincoln Land Community College. Sally enjoyed socializing with friends and caring for her many pets that she rescued from shelters over the years.
She was a member of the Junior League of Springfield, Association of Women Business Owners, Progress Circle of King’s Daughters, Laurel United Methodist Church, American Diabetes Association, Illini Country Club, Panther Creek Country Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was State President of the Children of the American Revolution in 1959.
Friends may call at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel Tuesday Oct. 2, 2012 from 9:30 AM until the time of services there at 11:00 AM with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery, Farmingdale. In keeping with Sally’s love for abused or neglected animals, memorial contributions may be made to, the Illinois Humane Society, Benld Adopt A Pet, the Animal Protective League or the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine.
