Sandra E. Barron

Sandra Elizabeth Barron, 60 of Springfield, died at 6:51 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. On January 5, 1947 in Taylorville, during an ice storm, Aldo and Yolanda Gianessi Mariconi welcomed Sandra Elizabeth Mariconi into the world. She spent her childhood and youth in Tovey, Kincaid and Taylorville, Illinois. She attended both Ursuline Academy in Springfield and South Fork Township High School in Kincaid. After high school, she moved to Los Angeles, California. While in Los Angeles she worked as a Purchasing Agent for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1966 until 1982. On July 11, 1980, Sandra was enjoying an evening out with friends, when she met the love of her life Manuel Barron. They married later that year on October 8, 1980. Sandra and Manuel enjoyed many happy years in California. In 1988, Sandra and Manuel joined the Springfield Community. She worked as a cashier at Caritas Hall for seven years from 1989 to 1993. She enjoyed her job at Caritas Hall and made many friends while she was there. Sandra and Manuel did not have children, in turn they treated their nieces and nephews as their own and family was always important to Sandra. The latter years of Sandra’s life, were engulfed with illness. Her loving husband Manuel dedicated everyday to her care and needs. Prior to falling ill, Sandra could always be counted on for her love of chatter and to do or say something funny. Sandra will be sadly missed by all family and friends and remembered as a vivacious, vibrant and loving woman who loved life and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Manuel Barron of Springfield, two brothers: Gary (wife, Linda) Mariconi of Springfield and Kevin (wife, Melissa) Mariconi of Greenfield, WI; three nieces: Angela Kirkland of Murfreesboro, TN, Niccolina Mariconi and Anne Mariconi Sobala both of Springfield; three nephews: Marc Mariconi of Springfield, Joshua (companion, Melissa) Mariconi of Taylorville and Kevin Mariconi, Jr. of Greenfield, WI; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; two brother-in-laws: José and Juan Barron both of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister-in-law: Martha (husband, Luis) Portillo of Colorado Springs, CO; one uncle: Ezio (wife, Charlotte) Vitale of Centreville, OH; one aunt: Nora (husband, Fred) Pokora of Springfield and many cousins. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield with Fr. David Hoefler, celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family of Sandra Elizabeth Barron is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
