Sara Ratterree

Sara was born July 12, 1935, in Springfield, Il to Fremont and Elizabeth Blandin.

Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Ratterree, sister Nancy Blandin, and her parents.

Sara graduated from Springfield High School and attended Eastern Illinois University. She worked for the Illinois Association of School Boards for a few years and raised her family.

Sara was active in community organizations including P.E.O. Chapter LS, Kings Daughters Organization, and United Methodist Women’s circles through Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and reading.

Sara loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved to travel with them. She was a fiercely competitive game player with all family members and loved her jet-ski-killer drinks. She had an infectious laugh and often would laugh so hard she would cry. Sara valued her many friendships and they were very important to her.

Sara is survived by her son Steve (Ana) Ratterree of Burleson, TX, daughters Julie (Tom) Krehbiel and Amy (Bond) Tarr of Springfield, IL, grandchildren Stephen Ratterree of Burleson, TX, Gabby Nolasco of Arlington, TX, and Dani Nolasco of Arlington, TX, Scott (Jasmine) Krehbiel of St. Charles, MO and Matthew (Melanie) Krehbiel of Lake St. Louis, MO, Ellie Krehbiel of Columbia, MO, and Evan Tarr of Springfield, IL and 4 great grandchildren. Her sister, Jeanne Wells, of Tucson AZ also survives, along with nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held with Pastor Meredith Manning Brown officiating. Bisch Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church, 501 S. Douglas, Ave, Springfield, IL 62704, www.douglasavenue.org.
