Sevet John Madonia, 89, of Springfield, died at 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. John's Hospital. Sevet was born October 21, 1924 in Springfield, the son of Joseph and Rosalia LaFata Madonia. He married Josephine Scaduto on June 19, 1949 in Springfield. Sevet was employed by the State of Illinois Secretary of State's office as a security guard. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always joking. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Notre Dame and the Yankees. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Sylvester Joe Madonia, Paul Madonia, Sam Madonia, and Tony Madonia. He is survived by his wife, Josephine of Springfield; son, Joe (Lynn Grayson) Madonia of Long Grove, IL; grandson, Joseph Grayson Madonia; sister, Rose Simburger of Walshville, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Private family burial to follow.
