

Sharon R Jennings, 97, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday January 28, 2016 at her residence. She was born on May 31, 1918 in Taylorville, IL., to Robert and Geneva Stephens Woolsey. Sharon married Odes O. Jennings on December 27, 1947 in Tunica, Mississippi and he preceded her in death in 1979.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by two daughters: Sharon Raye of Springfield, and Margie (Michael) Scott of Corpus Christi, TX, five grandchildren: Michael (Amber) Raye, Tiffany (Vincent) Britt, Emily Wheatley, Brenda (David) Danley, and Brianna Tavender, ten great-grandchildren: Livi, Jameson, and Leia Britt, Hunter and Jase Raye, Morgan, Miley and Colt Danley, and Tieson and Chelsea Wheatley as well as three sisters: Louise Van Huss, Jackie (Jack) Kelly, and Barbara Snow and one brother Norman Lee “Ossie” Woolsey. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Sharon was a special needs teacher with Springfield District 186 retiring from Franklin Middle School in December of 2005. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, bingo, painting and doing word puzzles. Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Friday February 5, 2016 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:30am until the time of service Friday.
