

Shirley Ann “Sweetie Pie” Crumly, 80, of Springfield, died at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice. Shirley was born on January 8, 1927 in Springfield, the daughter of Edward L. and Edna Donavon Fahrenbocker. She married Robert “Bob” Crumly on May 24, 1947 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springfield; he preceded her in death on July 21, 2005. She graduated from Lanphier High School. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and an auxiliary member of the Eagles in Shell Knob, MO. She was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in accounting, retiring after thirty years of service. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, shopping and dancing with her husband. Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Donald L. and Robert E. Fahrenbocker. Surviving are six children: Robert (wife, Leesa) Crumly II of Ashland, Teri (husband, Brad) Mrozowski-Baker of Louisville, IL, Ed Crumly of Springfield, Susan Powers of Omaha, AR, Gary Crumly of Shell Knob, MO and Steven (wife, Cari) Crumly of Wichita, KS; eleven grandchildren: Kimmi, Brian, TeJay, Jessica, Adam, Jeremy, Amber, Lindsey, Jared, Amanda and Timmy; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Bryant (companion, John Kennedy) of Memphis, TN and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family welcomes friends to visit from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Graveside Ceremonies will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Christopher House officiating.
