

Shirley was born September 24, 1927, in Benton, IL, the daughter of Elan and Ethel Jenks Plasters. She married Leroy Joseph "Pete" Klein on December 18, 1960, in Kankakee, IL; he preceded her in death on September 11, 1999.
Shirley graduated from Thompsonville High School. She was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife and mother. Shirley enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, 3-D arts and woodworking crafts.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Joe Plasters, Lois Fuhr, Robert Plasters, and Dorothy Bangert.
She is survived by her son, Fred Klein of Alameda, CA; daughters, Linda Mercier of Waynesville, MO and Mary (husband, Tom) Kunkel of WI; grandchildren, Melissa, Daniel, Michael, Adam, David, and Sarah; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Phyllis Plasters of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Pastor Michael Wells, her grandson, officiating.
