Shirley Rodrick Lanphier

Shirley Rodrick Lanphier, 89, of Springfield, Illinois, passed on April 9, 2022, at her home. She was born December 5, 1932, in Springfield to Norma and Roy Rodrick. She attended Arnold School, Butler Elementary, and graduated from Springfield High School.

She married James O. Orr, Jr. on June 22, 1952, with whom she had four beautiful children, Debbie, Jim, Rick, and Becky. She was later married to R.C. Lanphier III.

Shirley was affectionately known to her grandchildren as Nonee. She loved spending time with and entertaining her family and friends, especially at Hilltop House on Glen Lake. She was an avid bridge player and loved cooking, dancing, and traveling. She was involved in Junior League, Chapter EQ of PEO, and was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Orr; and grandson, Leland Orr. She is survived by her children, Debbie Fritsch (Wen), Jim Orr (Vicki), Becky Reid (Chris); daughter-in-law, Vicki Orr; grandchildren, Shaughn (Tara), Shay (Kyle Sitko), and Nolan Reid, Matthew and Tara Fritsch, Elizabeth Whitley (Karlyle), Riggs Orr, and Meghan Orr; great grandchildren, Ruby, Rose, and Baby Reid; sister, Joan Muncy (Irv); nephew, Tom Muncy; niece, Rachel Bonney. Also surviving Shirley are her faithful companions, Teddy and Smokey.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
