Sophia F. Fleming, 78, of Springfield, passed away at 7:45 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2001 at Doctor's Hospital in Springfield. She was born January 20, 1922 in Cumberland County, IL the daughter of Frank and Sarah Catherine Schick Wright. She married Vernon Fleming in 1945 in Gary, IN and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1949. Mrs. Fleming was a school teacher early in her professional life, and later worked and then retired from the State of Illinois General Services Administration after 27 years of service. She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters, her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son: Stan (wife-Phyllis) Fleming of Collinsville, VA; 2 granddaughters, and one grandson. There are no services planned, remains were cremated. The family of Sophia Fleming is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL.
