Sophie Augustitis

Sophie Augustitis, 84 of Springfield died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Oak Terrace Nursing Home. Sophie was born March 23, 1919, in Springfield, daughter of Leo and Josephine Yezdauskus Meiron. She married William Joseph Augustitis in 1942 in Springfield. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1996. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, John Michael; four brothers, John , Pete, Leo and Bill Meiron; sister, Amelia Skade-DePatie. Sophie is survived by two sons: William (wife, Marilyn) Augustitis of Monmouth Beach, NJ and Joseph (wife, Tammy) Augustitis of Springfield, four grandchildren: Irene and Elizabeth Augustitis of New Jersey and Joseph and Michael Augustitis of Springfield, two step grandchildren: Nicole and Jeffrey Reynolds of Springfield, one great grandchild: Chloe Augustitis of Monmouth Beach, NJ, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2003. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2003 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John A. Renken V.G. and Rev. Msgr. Kenneth C. Steffen celebrants. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
