

Sr. Eileen Harrison, OP, formerly Sr. M. Judith, 91, died April 15 at the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse, Springfield. Sr. Eileen was born to Mary Ellen (Cannon) and Martin Harrison in Witt, Ill. She joined the Dominican Sisters in 1938. Sister spent her life ministering in the fields of elementary and religious education. She began at St. Patrick School in Springfield in 1940. Later her zest to teach took her to Our Lady of Grace School, Chicago; St. Mary School, East Moline; St. Joseph School, Bradley; St. Mary School, Litchfield; Holy Rosary School, Duluth, Minn.; St. Bernadette School, Evergreen Park; Christ the King School; Springfield, and the Religious Education Centers, Carlinville and Arcola. Before retirement to Sacred Heart Convent in 1995, Sister served as parish visitor at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Springfield. Sister Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Martin, Joseph, Peter, and John; sisters Margaret (Boswell), and Sr. Rose Lima (Harrison), OSF. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she lived and ministered for 70 years. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Sacred Heart Convent Motherhouse, 1237 W. Monroe, Springfield. A vigil service will take place at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Convent at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 with Rev. Peter Witchousky, OP, presiding. The Final Commendation and Burial Service will take place following the Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
