Sister Mary Sheila Brown, OP, 84, of Sacred Heart Convent, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2001 at the Motherhouse in Springfield. Sister Mary Sheila was born November 20, 1916 the daughter of James and Bridget Cain Brown in Penfield, IL. She entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters in 1937 and pronounced her vows in 1938. Sister Mary Sheila devoted 52 years to ministering as an elementary teacher and administrator in New Berlin, Chicago, Odell, Aurora, Evergreen Park, Quincy, Springfield, and Redlands, CA. From 1990 until recently, Sister had been tutoring students at Sacred Heart Griffin High School. She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers and four sisters. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and her Dominican Sisters with whom she lived and ministered for 64 years. Friends may call at Sacred Heart Convent Motherhouse from 3:30-7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2001 with a wake services at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2001 at Sacred Heart Convent Motherhouse.
