Steven Carl Zang

Steven was born February 5, 1952, in Quincy, IL, the son of Carl and Phyllis Keane Zang. He married Jean E. Kienzle on September 12, 1982, in Springfield.

Steven graduated from Griffin High School in 1970 and earned his bachelor’s degree from SIU Carbondale. He was employed as a division supervisor for Sangamon County Probation and Court Services, retiring in 2009 after 32 years of service. Steven was a member of St James Catholic Church in Riverton and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #158 in Springfield. In 1963, he won the city of Quincy Putt-Putt Golf Tournament and relished in his achievement the rest of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a proud father to his daughters and even prouder Papa to his grandchildren. Steven also enjoyed playing golf, working crossword puzzles, playing cards, socializing over a PBR with friends, watching any baseball, and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Steven is survived by his wife, Jean Zang of Springfield; daughters, Alexandra (Robert) Liberman of Springfield and Andrea (Shane) Miller of Rochester; grandchildren, Carter Miller, Jaxson Miller, Ty Miller, Lucas Liberman, and Marleigh Liberman; siblings, Judy (Peter) Cadwell and Jeff Zang, both of Springfield; aunt, Mary Keane of Quincy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church, 112 N. 6th St., Riverton, IL. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Raphael Paul DeMoreno, celebrant. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings.

Inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
