

Sue Marie Schramm, 65, of Chatham, died at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends after a 24-year courageous battle with cancer. Sue was born January 10, 1948 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Robert and Phyllis Myers Sheperd. She married Michael J. Schramm on October 24, 1969 in Toledo, OH; he preceded her in death in October of 2012. Sue was a graduate of Central High School in Toledo, OH and earned her Associate's Degree from the University of Toledo. She worked for the State of Illinois in the Governor's Office and with the Dept. of Secretary of State and previously for Horace Mann. Sue was a devoted wife for 43 years, mother, grandma, sister, and friend. She enjoyed oil painting, fishing with her husband, listening to music, and watching old movies and tv shows. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Joseph Schramm of San Francisco; two daughters, Marjorie (Gerald) Houlihan of Chicago and Lynne Tribble of Chatham; four grandchildren, Evan Schramm of Vacaville, CA, Jack and Madilyn Houlihan of Chicago, and Colin Tribble of Chatham; and a brother, Scott, (Marilyn) Sheperd of St. Louis, MO. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following visitation. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Robert F. Schramm, O.S.F. officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
