Susan Cully McCord

She was born on October 27, 1971, in Springfield, the daughter of C. Edward and Joan (Talkington) Cully.

She graduated from SHG in 1990 and from SIU in 1994 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Susan was employed with the Illinois State Police as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst for six years and received awards for her excellent work. She married Rick McCord in 2001 and they later divorced. The love of her life was their son, Jack McCord.

Susan is survived by her son, Jack McCord of Chicago; parents, Ed and Joan Cully of Springfield; sisters, Leslie Senne of Chicago and Lori (Mike) Coffey of Springfield; nieces and nephews, Ali, Frank and Chloe Coffey, and Audrey and Ava Senne; and Jack’s father, Rick McCord of Chicago.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings.

Concelebrated Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, with Reverend Larry Brunette and The Very Rev. Christopher House, concelebrants. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings.
