Theodore "Teddy" Robert Burmeister

Theodore Teddy" Robert Burmeister, 3, of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, June 15, 2018. He was born on August 12, 2014, in Springfield to Michael Jared and Mary Leah Lentz Burmeister. Teddys great grandparents, Donald and Leah Faye Lentz of Springfield,Richard and Leota Burmeister of Springfield, Roland and Rita Burr of Albuquerque, NM and great grandpa, Dale Piper, of Sumner, IL, preceded him in death. He will be greatly missed by his parents, Michael and Mary of Springfield; big brother, George; little sister Leota; grandparents, Ted and Linda Lentz of Springfield and Robert and Beverly Burmeister of Springfield; great grandmother, Mary Piper of Sumner, IL; aunt, Amy (Eric) Staley of Springfield; uncles, Todd (Sarah) Lentz of Jackson, MO and Steven (Fianc, Natalie Foss) Burmeister of Chatham; cousins, Lula and Piper Staley, Dale, Leo, Paul and June Lentz. For those of you that did not know him or have a chance to meet him, Teddy was an amazing child. Though he had a complicated life, he accomplished more good in his 3 years than I have in all of mine. Teddy had a traumatic brain injury at birth and did not crawl on his hands and knees (but he had a really great army crawl), talk, walk or sit unsupported. He was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, a seizure disorder, cortical visual impairment, and struggled with extreme acid reflux. In his short time he brightened peoples day with his smile, brought people back to God who had given up, and made me a better person. He is doing great, its us who love and miss him that are not doing great at this time. Thank you to everyone for all of the love, and support. -Mike Burmeister- His family will greet friends from 4pm-7pm on Thursday, June 21, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. A funeral mass will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, June 22, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1725 Walnut Street, Springfield, IL, 62704. Father Jeff Grant will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burmeister Family for end of life expenses.
