Theresa Marie Turley

Theresa Marie Turley lovingly known as "Babe", 99 years, 9 months, and 15 days young, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away Thursday Nov. 6, 2008 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Springfield. She leaves behind many that cherish her memories.

Marie was born on January 22, 1909 in Springfield, to James and Bessie (Newell) Fortner. Marie was the eldest of 12 children. She married Arthur D. "Bud" Turley and celebrated over 65 years of marriage with him. Sadly, Arthur left her side in the year of 2004. Her grandson, Richard D. Turley also preceded her in death in August of 2007.

Marie was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed camping and many summers were spent camping in the Upper Peninsula, at Grand Marais, Michigan on Lake Superior.

Marie is survived by her son, Rion D. (wife, Barbara Schou) Turley of Trenton; her brother, Richard (wife, Cathy) Fortner of Prescott, AZ.; grandson, Travis D. (wife, Christy) Turley, sister-in- law, Gilda (Andreatta) (Robert) Fortner, four great grandchildren, Meagan D. Turley, Sean D. Turley, Christopher D. Turley, and Justin D. Turley, nieces Kathy Mueller, Janet Carter, Nancy Fortner, Judy Kholrus, Marcie Fortner, nephews Jim Fortner, Tom Fortner, Bob Sennings, and the many friends and loving staff of Heritage Manor.

The family is being served by Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel where friends may call Wednesday Nov. 12, 2008 from 10:30 am until the time of services there at 11:00 am.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
