
He was born on September 4, 1940, in Spencer, IA, the son of Thixton Sr. and Maude (Ferris) Miller. Thixton married Mary K. Haensel on August 21, 1982, in Springfield. She preceded him in death, on January 21, 2015.
Thixton graduated from Spencer High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in zoology from Iowa State University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Thixton went on to work as a biologist for the IL Dept. of Natural Resources. He then went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers. Thixton enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and training his hunting dogs.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and five sisters.
Thixton is survived by his son, Clark B. (Jessica) Miller of Springfield; grandchildren, Laura, Isabella, and Clayton Miller; and one great-grandchild.
A private Graveside Ceremony will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Menard County Honor Guard and the Department of Defense.
