

Thomas was born on October 14, 1928 in Danville. He enjoyed 64 years of marriage with his loving wife, Kathleen Burke Flattery. Their years were filled with laughter with many happy memories with their friends and family.
Thomas was a graduate of the University of IL. He was President of Clay Products and Springfield Plastics Incorporated. Tom was also one of the original members of RE/MAX Realtors. Among his many accomplishments, he was voted Irish Man of the Year and in 2008 he received a key to the city from the mayor. Thomas was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Springfield Board of Realtors and the ROMEO Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He enjoyed golfing and attending SHG football games.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Flattery of Springfield; two sons, Tom (wife, Sandy) Flattery, Jr. and Brian (wife, Lori) Flattery, both of Springfield; one daughter, Shari (husband, Kevin) Curry of Springfield; five grandchildren, Dr. Shannon Curry-Kearl, Ryan Curry, and Daniel, Patrick, and Delaney Flattery; and one great-grandchild, Madeleine Kearl.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Concordia Village for their gracious and loving care over the past two years.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 North Amos Avenue, Springfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
