Thomas L. Fuchs

Thomas L. "Tom" Fuchs, 61, of Springfield, died at 3:07 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at St. John's Hospital after a five year battle with a brain tumor. Tom was born February 14, 1948 in Jacksonville, the son of C. Thomas and Rosemary Minch Fuchs. He married Cynthia Lynn Claycomb on July 26, 1969 at St. Cabrini in Springfield. Tom graduated from New Berlin High School in 1966 and Bailey Technical Institute in St. Louis. He was a retired farmer and loved living in the country. He had also owned Fuchs Communication for over twenty years and owned and operated a trucking business as well as a Standard Oil Service Station in New Berlin. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Berlin where he served Mass as a young boy. Tom was a wonderful husband and father who could fix almost anything. He was often found with his tool box and a race car or drag racing with his son and working in the pit area. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, eight aunts and uncles and his favorite companion, Nick his dog. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Cindy Fuchs of Springfield; four sons, Matthew (wife, Laurie) Fuchs of Pawnee, Andrew (wife, Dawn) Fuchs of Waverly, Eric (Mallory Masters) Fuchs of Pawnee and Adam (Amanda Kistner) Fuchs of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Lydia, Lexie, Hayden, Alexander, Danny, Joshua and Zachery; his parents, C. Thomas and Rosemary Fuchs of Springfield; six siblings, Ann (husband, Steven) Steer, Frank (wife, Denise) Fuchs both of Springfield, John Fuchs of Chatham, Mark (wife, Joanne) Fuchs of Lee's Summit, MO, Lee (wife, Janice) Fuchs of St. Charles, MO and Kevin (wife, Rita) Fuchs of New Berlin; three aunts; two uncles; and twenty-five nieces and nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 3:00 until time of Funeral Mass at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Mary's Church, 404 E. Birch, New Berlin with Rev. Angel Sierra celebrant. A reception at Knights of Columbus #4372, 715 E. Illinois St., New Berlin will follow ceremonies.
