

Thomas A. Mizeur, 72, of Springfield, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 surrounded by his family at Memorial Medical Center. Thomas was born August 7, 1944 in Springfield, the son of Myron R. and Clara Sidener Mizeur. He married Laura M. Galassi twice at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Thomas attended Cathedral Boys High School and graduated from Griffin High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Western IL University and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967 and received the Sharpshooter Rifle medal. Thomas was employed with the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #364, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, NRA, and Illini Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf, was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, SHG sports, and the Fighting Illini. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with and teasing his family. He dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Crumly; and two brothers, Myron and Byron "Gene" Mizeur. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Laura M. Mizeur of Springfield; children, Angelique (husband, Eric) Stacy of Downers Grove, Noelle Mizeur of Springfield, and Nicholas (wife, Angela) Mizeur of Petersburg; two grandsons, Thomas Walter Stacy and Eric John Stacy, Jr. and one on the way; siblings, Patricia Klockenkemper, Barbara (husband, Frank) Hutter, Michael (wife, Mary Lou) Mizeur, Leon (wife, Ellen) Mizeur, Celine (husband, Stuart) Bentley, Donnie (wife, Becky) Mizeur, DiAnne Schuerman, and David Mizeur; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield with Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Oak Ridge Chapel Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Department of Defense.
