

Thomas "Tom" G. Laughlin, passed away on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018 at Concordia Village. Tom was born on October 3, 1919 in Elwood, IN, the son of Kathryn (Lavelle) and Harry B. Laughlin and was raised in Anderson, IN. He married Anna Mae Kunkler on September 23, 1950. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Marjorie Laughlin and Kathryn McFawn; and four brothers, Harry, John, Robert and James Laughlin. He is survived by his wife, Ann of Springfield; daughter, Joan (Marty) Stroud of Shreveport, LA; son, Thomas G. (Teresa) Laughlin, Jr. of Springfield; two grandchildren, Dr. Claire (Nathan) Goff and Thomas G. Laughlin, III; and numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Army Veteran, Tom served in the Signal Corps stationed in the South Pacific during WWII with qualifications of rifle marksman and carbine expert and received an honorable discharge in 1945. He graduated from Purdue University, summa cum laude. Tom retired from Prudential after 35 years of employment. He enjoyed playing golf with the Pasfield Park Mens Club and Saturday Night Couples League. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #364 and American Legion Post 32. He was a member of St. Agnes Parish for more than 60 years. Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 North Amos Ave., Springfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Concordia Benevolent Fund, 4101 West Iles Avenue, Springfield, IL 62711; American Cancer Society, 675 East Linton, Springfield, IL 62703; St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N.
