

Thomas Alfred Urbanckas, 47, of Springfield, died on Friday, October 24, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. Tom was born March 30, 1961 in Oak Park, the son of Alfred D. and Patricia L. Block Urbanckas. Tom graduated from Griffin High School and went on to work at the State Journal Register as a Photo Engraver. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and camping. Tom also loved motorcycles and attending races. He will be remembered as both caring and generous with an easy-going spirit. Tom is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia L. Urbanckas and grandparents, Alfred W. and Anne T. Urbanckas and Bruno and Martha B. Block . He is survived by his children, Joshua A. (wife, Mandi), Jason H., and Thomas J. (wife, Stephanie) Urbanckas, all of Pawnee; five grandchildren, Alexandra, Izabella, Demarie, Warren, and Aubree; his father and step-mother, Alfred and Diane Urbanckas of Springfield; his sister, Deborah (husband, Robert) Jemison of Springfield; his niece, Allison Herr; and his nephew, William Herr. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at St. Jude, 633 S. Walnut St., Rochester with Rev. R. Dean Probst, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, IL 62702.
