

Thomas D. White, 87, of Springfield, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center. Thomas was born October 28, 1914 the son of Thomas D. and Katherine Barrett White in Davenport, Iowa. He married Anne I. Bartolo July 9, 1938 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield. Thomas was employed by E&F Distributing Company for 30 years retiring in 1980. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church where he was a former usher. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #364, and American Legion Post # 0759 in Chatham. He was a life member and past chaplain of VFW Post #755 and a member of the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: J. Richard White. He is survived by his wife: Anne of Springfield; two daughters: Mary Ann (husband, Gene) Tharp of Springfield, Diane K. (husband, Robert C.) Walkup of Lafayette, IN; five grandchildren: Traciann Jostes, Jan Brickner, Daniel Jostes, Christopher Jostes, Nicole Walkup; one brother: J. Barrett (wife, Geraldine) White of Naples, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2002. Visitation will begin with a wake service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Reverend Richard Chiola celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will perform military honors.
