

Tom Whitlock Sr., 71, lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, with his loving family at his side. Tom was born on June 17, 1943, the son of the late William and Becky Whitlock. Tom married Sally Mitchell on July 5, 1964 in Springfield. He proudly served his country during the 60’s in the Navy. After serving our country Tom worked for over 45 years for Local #137 Plumbers and Steamfitters, until he retired. He was a member of Real Life Church, a car enthusiast, he enjoyed playing solitaire, watching the History Channel, but most of all was a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving Tom is his loving wife and best friend of nearly 50 years Sally Whitlock, his children: Tom (Hollie) Whitlock Jr, Bryan (Ramona) Whitlock, Michelle (Roger) Lanter, all of Springfield, Kristy (Nick) Deatherage of Rochester, Jeffery (Meagan) Whitlock of Ft. Worth TX, brothers; William E. (Debbie) Whitlock Jr of Glenarm, Michael Page (Jan) Whitlock of Elbert, CO, Ted (Michelle) Whitlock of Nolensville, TN, 13 grandchildren: Matt, Zach, Denny, Sarah, Carter, Kimberly, Allie, Roger III, Mackenzie, Johnathan, Hannah, Drew, and Ethan, 3 great-grandchildren; Emma, Denny Jr, and Kalab, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son Jason Mitchell Whitlock.
The family will receive friends at 9 am on Saturday, June 28, at Real Life Church 2450 Taylor Ave Springfield, IL 62703, until the time of services at 12:30 pm at the church. Rev. Clint Cook will officiate the service. Inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
