

Truman Kipper Cole, 95, of Springfield, died at 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on August 27, 1910 in Lincoln, the son of Van Iles and Marie Kipper Cole. He married LaRue Shephard on February 12, 1947 in Springfield; she preceded him in death. He graduated from Kemper Military School and was a WW II U. S. Army Veteran. He was employed as a florist and opened 5th St. Flower Shop in Springfield in 1929. He was a member of Woodside United Methodist Church for over forty years. He was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #158 and Lincoln Memorial Gardens and a member of Tyrian 333 Masonic Lodge for fifty years. He also held memberships with the Scottish Rite, American Legion Post 32, Ansar Shrine, Ansar Shrine Retired Club, and was past Commander of the AMVETS in Springfield. He enjoyed playing the keyboard and banjo and traveling with his wife to different musicals and shows. He also liked to play bridge and loved flowers. He was also preceded in death by his sister: Alma June Harsha. He is survived by his many friends. The family welcomes friends to visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2006 at Woodside United Methodist Church, 3529 Sheffield Rd., Springfield with Rev. Jim Poole officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Woodside United Methodist Church, 3529 Sheffield Rd., Springfield 62703.
