

Ursula was born on November 3, 1930, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Fritz and Franziska (Mokry) Mein. She married Wilbert E. “Gene” Edwards on October 2, 1954, in Berlin, Germany and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2018.
Ursula lived in Berlin, Germany until she was 24 years old and came to the United States in 1954. She worked at a grocery store, St. John’s Hospital, June’s Bridal, and then opened her own business, Ursula’s Alterations that she owned and operated for six years. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed dress making. Ursula was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Anchor Boat Club. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, and knitting.
Ursula was also preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Herbert, Erich, and Fritz Mein.
She is survived by her daughter, Marina (Tim) Chestnut of Springfield; son, Ronald (Janelle) Edwards of Waverly; grandchildren, Greg (Molly) Chestnut, Brittany (Amie) Chestnut Robinson, Eric (Marissa) Chestnut, Kyle (Samantha) Langstrom, Kloni (Robert) Arseneault, and Shian Edwards; and great grandchildren, Sophia, Kennedy, and Desirae.
Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Greg Busboom officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
