

Viola “Toni” Petrilli, 79, of Springfield died at 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at her home. Viola, a lifelong resident of Springfield, was born April 2, 1926 in Springfield, the daughter of Vincent and Mary Roscetti Antonacci. She married Fulvio L. “Joe” Petrilli on September 18, 1948; he preceded her in death on June 7, 1986. Viola received her nursing degree from St. John’s School of Nursing. She retired in 1986 as Night Supervisor from St. John’s Hospital after thirty years of service. She was a member of Church of the Little Flower, St. Therese Guild and was a board member of St. John’s Hospital Retirees. Viola, a mother to so many, loved the Chicago Cubs and was a fan of Nascar driver Jeff Gordon. She was also preceded in death by one sister: Lillian Metz. She is survived by three daughters: Nancy Petrilli of Springfield, Rita Petrilli Mueller of Houston, TX, Marianne (husband, Bob) Lloyd of Roscommon, MI; one son: Phil Petrilli of Lansing, MI; three grandchildren: Emily and Joseph Petrilli, Hope Swain and several nieces and nephews. The family of Viola “Toni” Petrilli will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2005 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield with Father Chuck Edwards celebrant. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Hospital Foundation, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702-9985 or for Masses in memory of Viola “Toni” Petrilli.
