Virginia F. Lane, 87, of Springfield, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at St. Francis Convent. Virginia was born February 8, 1916 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Albert C. and Hedwig Marz Lane. Miss Lane worked as a bookkeeper for 13 years in St. Paul, MN at Montgomery Ward. At age 30 she entered St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield and worked as a surgery supervisor and registered nurse for Sacred Heart Hospital and Luther Hospital in Eau Clair, WI. She retired in 1981. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Church from 8-9:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2003. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2003 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Barnabas Diekemper OFM celebrant. Burial will follow in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.
