Virginia Marie Valdez

Virginia "Ginny" Marie Valdez, 64, of Springfield died at 6:24 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Virginia was born September 23, 1948 in Levittown, NY, the daughter of James and Geraldine O'Shea Kieran. Virginia was a graduate of Queen of the Rosary Academy in NY and earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Arizona State University. She worked as an elementary school teacher at Blessed Sacrament for 30 years. She knew an amazing amount about readings and scripture and enjoyed sewing. She also volunteered at Catholic Charities by opening her home to those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by four daughters, Tara (husband, Matt) Ference of Wildwood, MO, Shelli Van Bebber, Teresa Valdez both of Springfield and Tami Valdez of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Paige Lowe, Matt Ference, Jr., Maura Ference and Jacob Ference; five siblings, Peggy Rubach and Jim Kieran, both of Phoenix, AZ, Tricia Kieran of Scottsdale, AZ, Mary (husband, Jay Riseman) McCormick of Kansas City, KS and Tom (wife, Jody) Kieran of Peoria, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center after ceremonies. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant.
