

Walter “Walt” Baker, 59, of Riverton, died at 11:25 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2004 at his home. Walt was born July 4, 1944 in Howard County, MO, the son of Jessie and Mabel Richards Baker. He married Linda Richno in 2001. Mr. Baker had been employed at Sangamo Construction Company from 1969 to present. He was a member and employed as a construction worker through Laborers Union Local #477. He was a member of the TRN Club and Eagles Club in both Springfield and Riverton. His hobbies included auto racing and traveling. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife: Linda Kay Baker of Riverton; one son: Robert O. (wife, Roni) Baker of Springfield; one daughter: Cheryl Lee Swain of Springfield; two stepsons: Michael Stephens of Springfield and James Estill of Hawaii; mother: Mabel Baker of Murrayville, IL; two stepdaughters: Leah and Cindy Estill both of Las Vegas, NV; one grandson; nine step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; one sister: Kay (husband, Charles) Ratlif of Murrayville; three brothers: Charles S. Baker of Murrayville, Claude S. (wife, DeAnna) Baker of Moberly, MO, Michael Baker of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 Monday, March 22, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Lewis officiating.
